Do you believe in miracles?
Yes or no.
No? Well in case you don’t believe in miracles, maybe you forgot that -YOU- are a miracle in this world. Yes! Breathing, living, and existing day to day without taking great thought and gratefulness how your body ”works” to keep you in existence. It’s a fascinating thing.
I wake up every morning..opening my eyes and being grateful for the day…another day to live to the fullest. When I awoke in a hospital bed in Sierra Vista hospital (San Luis Obispo, Ca.) in 2001, one week before 9/11 due to an automobile accident…I opened my eyes, flat on my back because I was paralyzed from the neck down and could not move or feel the linen sheet touching my toes. First thought, I WAS ALIVE. Second thought, I WAS BREATHING ON MY OWN. Third thought as I stared at the hospital ceiling, THIS FEELS LIKE DE-JA-VU…as if I had been there before. Something was familiar about that experience that had me bewildered in a strange way but the vision and voice from within allowed me to realize this was the BIG BANG that I have been waiting for my whole life. The sense of hope and gratefulness that flowed effortlessly blessed me with a profound feeling…I would make an extraordinary impact in the world, be an advocate and an example for others in similar positions.
It was at that moment I had to make a choice. To either go down a ”negative” path or a ”positive” path, I embraced the positive path, my vision, the hope I felt from within my paralyzed body, shifted forward positively and never looked back.
TODAY, on a beautiful Friday morning I awoke from a long night of tedious work but the enthusiasm of having a lunch meeting with my executive producer, Gay Rosenthal had me jolting with excitement to start my ”slugabed” day. My new nurse Saba came in the morning and I trained her cheerfully my morning regimen and asked my housemate Scott to give me a ride to my lunch meeting.
Upon our arrival at the Sunset Marquis, Scott pushed me through a gorgeous and tranquil garden to get me to my luncheon…Enamored by the beauty and serenity of the ambiance that was created by the hotel, I stated to Scott that ”Life is a miracle and if we believe that, then everything around us becomes a miracle.”
I soon joined my girlfriend for a three hour relaxing, inspiring, and meaningful lunch…sharing everything I had been up to and catching up on our latest endeavors. It couldn’t have been any more perfect. After indulging in a satisfying meal of delicious sea bass, fresh grilled vegetables, two cups of tea, one water and vanilla bean ice cream complemented by the manager I shared w/ Gay how life was beautiful in so many ways.
I felt delighted and ever so grateful for our moment in the quite garden of the Sunset Marquis. Hugged my dear friend, thanked her and was swept away from Scott back to my haven in ”miracle mile”.
Once I was home, I had to lay down for two hours and decompress my lower back. In my meditation, I recapped on the whole day, every detail, and realized once again…YOUR WORLD IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT. IF YOU SEE IT AS A ”MIRACLE”…A TRUE GIFT, THEN YOU SEE THE BEAUTY AND MIRACLES IN EVERYTHING AROUND YOU. Life unfolds as a serendipity harmony of events…
Embrace that YOU are a miracle, spread the love you feel for having life, shine your light to everything and see your world transform to a realm of possibilities you would have never thought possible.
Peace and compassion, Angela
